Rudyard Lake Steam Railway Steam Gala 2012
The Rudyard Lake Steam Railway held their annual Steam Gala on 22nd and 23rd September 2012. In addition to the Passenger trains there was also a number of frieght trains which ran at intervals throughout the event.
There was also the chance to see the brilliant Croftdale Model Railway on Platform 2.
As a tribute to Mr George D Hinchcliffe, who sadly passed away last year. The man responsible for bringing Flying Scotsman back to Britain, Renowned Railway modeller and good friend of the RLSR. A memorial headboard was unveiled and ran on service trains throughout the day. A coach was also named after the Great man and family members were the first to travel in it.
The Gala was very well attended and visitors had the bonus of catching Victoria de-railing in Rudyard Station. A great deal of interest was paid as the RLSR guys promptly dealt with the issue very professionaly.
Unfortunaly due to work commitments I could only attend on the Saturday and I'm sure Sunday would be every bit as good, if not better.
Thanks very much to everyone at The Rudyard Lake Steam Railway for another Fantastic Event.
