Winter Steam Gala 2012
The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway held their Winter Steam Gala on the 10th, 11th and 12th February 2012. I was lucky enough to be able to attend all three days of the event and was treated to a very impressive line op of Locomotives and the added bonus of good weather, Dry with the odd fluttering of snow on the Friday, and cold, just perfect for a Winter Steam Gala.
All station car parks were full to capacity and the trains were very busy. Visitors and Photographers were treated to Double headed trains,Express trains and Goods trains. Coal Tank 1054 ran for the first time since overhaul as 58926, along with 41241, Lancashire & Yorkshire 957, 43924, 80002, Nunlow and LNWR Super D 49395. The 1245 departure from Keighley on Friday was a re-enactment of the last train from Abergavenny to Merthyr witch ran with 58926 and 49121.
There was also a free classic bus service from Howarth Station to Oxenhope. You also had the opportunity to take the behind the scenes tour. So much to fit in to one weekend, and apart from a couple of trains running late ( well it is a railway ) this was a perfect Steam Gala. Many thanks to everyone involved.
