Imagine the scene
When the Steam Engine was part of everyday life. The busy platforms full of people going about their daily business. The milk churns and carts full of mailbags awaiting the train to their destinations. Then when the train arrives, the unmistakable smell of warm oil, steam and coal. The Driver and Fireman in control of their powerful engine. Porters would be in attendance to assist passengers ( not customers as they are known today ) with their luggage. Children,Young and not so young at the end of the platforms with their Ian Allen books and pencils ready to record every engine number. These sights and sounds are not easily forgotten. |
Imagine the scene because its all gone, No longer are there milk churns or mail on the platforms,Nor are there any Porters to assist, These days you are lucky if the station is manned at all ( That's progress my friend )
